Volunteering at 86? This Guy’s Got Spirit

Rodney Esser, 86, just can’t seem to get enough of the school where he spent most of his life working as a custodian. After retiring, he did what any sane person would do – he signed up to volunteer. It’s not like he’s got better things to do, like gardening or spoiling grandkids rotten.

A Life on School Grounds

Esser’s connection to the school goes way back. He got his job as part of a land sale deal in 1964 and has been a fixture there ever since. It’s safe to say he knows the place like the back of his hand. What’s not clear is what the school did to him that he’s willing to come back for more. Maybe it’s the food – who knows?
