Alibaba Group just dropped its latest AI model series, Qwen3.5, and it’s packing some serious agentic capabilities. It’s about time, too, considering the competition in China’s AI space is getting fiercer by the minute.

What’s the Big Deal?

Qwen3.5 is Alibaba’s answer to the chatbot craze sweeping China. It’s not like they’re late to the party or anything, but it’s better late than never, right? The new model series promises to bring some much-needed heat to the table, and it’s clear Alibaba won’t let its competitors get too far ahead.

It’s hard not to be skeptical, though. China’s chatbot scene is getting crowded, and it’s going to take more than just a fancy new model to stand out. Still, you can’t blame Alibaba for trying. After all, someone’s got to keep the likes of Baidu and Tencent on their toes.
