What’s Going On

Donald Trump just announced he’s closing the Kennedy Center for two whole years, citing a need for ‘Construction, Revitalization, and Complete Rebuilding’. Yeah, because that’s exactly what it needs – a two-year vacation. The news comes after a bunch of high-profile artists canceled their gigs, probably because they don’t want to be associated with, well, Trump.

The Details

It’s not like the Kennedy Center was falling apart or anything, but I guess Trump thinks it’s time for a facelift. And by facelift, I mean a complete overhaul that’ll leave the place shuttered for years. It’s a bold move, but not exactly the kind of thing you’d expect from a president who’s supposed to be supporting the arts.
