Nevada Terror Scare: 23-Year-Old Crashes Car into Power Facility
CrimeDeadly Crash Sparks Terrorism Fears
A 23-year-old man, identified as Dawson Maloney, is dead after crashing a car into a Nevada power facility. It’s a bizarre incident that’s being treated as a potential act of terrorism.
Armed to the Teeth
Maloney, who’s from Albany, New York, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was wearing soft body armor and holding a shotgun. The car, which had New York license plates, was packed with an arsenal of weapons, including two shotguns, an AR-style pistol, and flamethrowers.
It gets even weirder – officials found multiple books in Maloney’s hotel room related to extremist ideologies, including right- and left-wing extremism, environmental extremism, white supremacy, and anti-government ideology. They also recovered explosive materials, because why not?
Family Warning Signs
Maloney had spoken to his family before the attack, making references to self-harm and wanting to do something that would put him ‘on the news’. He even called himself a ‘dead terrorist son’ in a message to his mom. It’s clear there were warning signs, but it’s not like anyone could’ve predicted this level of crazy.
The FBI is assisting with the investigation, and authorities say there’s no ongoing threat to the community. So, that’s a relief. It’s just another day in America, where you can rent a car, load up on guns, and try to take out a power facility. What’s not to love about this country?
