Snowball Saga: NYPD Hunts Facial-Haired Suspects
CrimeNYPD Releases Photos of Snowball-Wielding Suspects
The NYPD’s released photos of two men wanted for allegedly pelting cops with snow and ice in Washington Square Park. The incident left two officers injured and sparked a heated debate over the attackers’ age and potential punishment.
Mamdani’s ‘Kids’ Claim
Mayor Zohran Mamdani claimed the attackers were ‘kids’ and shouldn’t face charges, but photos show men with facial hair – not exactly the snowball-throwing tykes Mamdani made them out to be. NYPD officials say the suspects are roughly 18 to 20 years old.
The suspects are wanted for assault on a police officer, a felony in NYC. One’s described as having a light complexion, wearing a black jacket and ski mask. The other’s got a dark complexion, sporting a green jacket and blue sweatshirt.
Criticism and Fallout
Former NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo slammed Mamdani, saying his words have consequences and he’s set a tone of disrespect for law enforcement. The Sergeants Benevolent Association’s president, Vincent Vallelong, said those who tossed snow and ice at officers ‘crossed a clear line’ – and tomorrow it could be worse than snowballs.
No arrests have been made, and the NYPD’s still investigating. It’s a ridiculous story, but the consequences are real – and someone’s gonna have to face the music.
