Snooze and Lose

Harrison Barnes, San Antonio’s star forward, just learned the hard way that naps aren’t always a good idea. He woke up from a pregame snooze with a sore left ankle and missed his first game since 2021.

A Streak Snapped

Barnes’ impressive 364-game streak came to an end Thursday night against the Philadelphia 76ers. It’s ridiculous that a nap could be the culprit, but here we are. Barnes won’t be happy about it, and neither will his fans.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson didn’t give many details, saying only that Barnes reported soreness after waking up and got pregame treatment from the medical staff. It’s not like Barnes is old or anything, but you’d think he’d know better than to sleep on the job.

New York’s Mikal Bridges now has the longest active consecutive games streak at 616. Barnes was close, but it looks like he won’t be breaking any records anytime soon.
