NYC Education Worker Arrested for Brutal Murder of Bronx Dad
CrimeShocking Arrest in Bronx Murder Case
A New York City Department of Education employee, Naya Brown, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of 44-year-old Keon Gill, a Bronx father who was celebrating his birthday with his brother at a restaurant. The incident occurred in January and left Gill’s brother, 35, with a non-fatal gunshot wound to the knee.
Argument Turns Deadly
According to sources, an argument broke out between Gill, his brother, and three other individuals, including Brown, at around 3 a.m. outside the restaurant. The altercation allegedly involved Pernell Warren, 37, who was arrested in February and charged with murder, as well as a third suspect who remains at large. It’s not clear what role Brown played in the shooting, but authorities say she wasn’t the one who pulled the trigger.
The New York City Department of Education has responded to the charges, calling them ‘deeply disturbing’ and stating that if the allegations are confirmed, they will pursue termination. This case is just one of several recent incidents of violence in the Bronx, including a ‘senseless’ shooting that killed an aspiring football player, Christopher Redding, in February.
Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson has spoken out about the surge in violence among young adults, saying it’s ‘too much’ and that ‘someone had a gun’ – which is often the problem. The NYPD is still searching for the third suspect in the Gill case, and the community is left to wonder how such senseless violence can be prevented in the future.
