Police Scramble Near Gracie Mansion

The NYPD’s telling people to steer clear of East End Avenue between 81st and 82nd Streets in Manhattan due to a pretty serious police situation. And by serious, I mean they’re investigating an improvised explosive device (IED) that could’ve caused some real harm.

What Went Down

It all started on Saturday when two devices were thrown during dueling protests outside Gracie Mansion. Now, sources say these devices were loaded with TATP (triacetone triperoxide), which is basically a recipe for disaster. The NYPD’s confirmed that one of these devices was indeed an IED, capable of causing ‘serious injury or death’.

It’s not like the city needs more chaos, but here we are. The police are still figuring out what happened, and they’re asking people to avoid the area until they get to the bottom of it.
