Ogles’ Outrageous Response

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) is under fire for his vile anti-Muslim comments, but instead of apologizing, he’s doubling down. On Monday, Ogles tried to deflect criticism by blaming Democrats for the DHS shutdown. It’s a ridiculous attempt to shift the focus from his own hate speech.

A History of Hate

Ogles pointed to past incidents involving Muslim perpetrators, like a shooting in Texas and a foiled bombing plot in New York City. He’s trying to use these tragedies to justify his bigotry, but it won’t wash. His comments are a slap in the face to the millions of peaceful Muslims in the US.

It’s not the first time Ogles has spouted hate, and it probably won’t be the last. But this time, he’s facing backlash from high-ranking Democrats, including Hakeem Jeffries and Gavin Newsom. They’re calling him out for his Islamophobic remarks, and Ogles is responding with more of the same vitriol. It’s a disgusting display of intolerance, and it’s time someone held him accountable.
