Utah Mom Snatches Kid, Threatens Beatdown Over Bullying
CrimeUtah Mom’s Over-the-Top Response to Bullying
A 40-year-old Utah mom, Shannon Tufuga, has been charged with kidnapping and child abuse after she went totally off the rails. It all started when she found out her son was being bullied by an 11-year-old kid.
The Wild Ride
Tufuga tracked down the kid, forced him into her car, and took him to her home in Provo, Utah. She didn’t stop there – she kept him until he apologized to her son. But that wasn’t enough. She then threatened to have her husband beat the kid up and told him he was lucky she didn’t run over his bike.
Eventually, she drove the kid back home, but not before leaving him with some serious emotional distress. The kid’s still dealing with high anxiety and has had to change his daily routine.
Charges and Court
Tufuga was initially looking at first-degree felonies, but the Utah County Attorney’s Office reduced the charges to second-degree felonies. Her first court appearance is set for April 30. It’s a pretty ridiculous story, and it’s hard to say what’s more disturbing – the fact that she kidnapped a kid or that she thought this was a good way to handle bullying.
