ICE Protests Turn Ugly in Minnesota
CrimeProtesters Clash with Police
Minnesota police arrested several anti-ICE protesters outside a hotel in Maple Grove on Monday, after the demonstration turned violent. The protesters were targeting U.S. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino, who was believed to be staying at the hotel.
A Change in Leadership
President Trump has announced that Bovino and many of his agents will be leaving Minneapolis as part of a leadership shake-up in the city’s immigration enforcement operation. This move comes after bipartisan criticism of the operation, particularly following the killing of an American man who was recording Border Patrol activity over the weekend.
Violence Erupts
Maple Grove police said officers responded to reports of a protest at the hotel, which escalated when protesters allegedly began throwing objects at officers and damaging property. After declaring an unlawful assembly and issuing a dispersal order, several people who refused to leave were arrested. It’s clear that the protesters’ actions won’t be tolerated, and the police won’t hesitate to take action when things get out of hand.
