TikTok Throws a Wrench

Jury selection was all set to start in L.A. County Superior Court on Tuesday for a big lawsuit that could prove social media apps harm kids. But then TikTok went and settled its part of the suit at the last minute, leaving everyone wondering what’s next.

A Messy Case

Meta and YouTube are still on the hook, and their lawyers are probably sweating bullets. The case against them won’t be easy to make, but it’s not like they’re innocent either. It’s about time someone took them to task for serving kids a constant stream of ads and weird content.

It’s a ridiculous situation, but it’s also kind of serious. I mean, who doesn’t know someone whose kid is glued to their screen 24/7? It’s not like these companies don’t know what they’re doing – they’re making bank off our kids’ screen time.
