CEO Musical Chairs

Koji Sato’s out as Toyota’s CEO, and Kenta Kon’s taking the wheel. It’s the second time in three years the automaker’s made a leadership change.

The New Boss

Kon, who’s currently the company’s chief financial officer, will take over as CEO. It’s not like Toyota’s been doing terribly, but a shake-up might be just what the doctor ordered. Sato’s been at the helm since 2021, so it’s not like he’s being shown the door for poor performance or anything.

Still, you don’t usually see CEO swaps happen this often unless something’s amiss. It’s not clear what’s behind the change, but we’re sure it’ll all come out in the wash eventually. For now, Kon’s got his work cut out for him.
