ICE Detainer Holds Child Rapist Behind Bars
CrimeNorth Carolina Man Charged with Statutory Rape
Juan Ramon Juarez-Talamantes, a 29-year-old man, is being held without bond on three counts of statutory rape in North Carolina. He’s also got an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer hanging over his head.
How He Got Caught
It all started with reports of child sexual assault in July 2024 and September 2025. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office and the Asheville Police Department teamed up to investigate, and it wasn’t long before they had Juarez-Talamantes in their sights. They got a search warrant for his Snapchat handle, address, and DNA – yeah, it’s that serious.
According to the Asheville Citizen Times, Juarez-Talamantes used Snapchat to chat with his alleged victims. One of them told police that after meeting up, Juarez-Talamantes took them back to his house, kissed them, and tried to ‘take it further.’ When the child said no, he allegedly slapped and then raped them. It’s a pretty horrific story, and it’s hard to believe this guy was walking around free until now.
A Partnership That Paid Off
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is praising the partnership with the Asheville Police Department, saying it was instrumental in getting Juarez-Talamantes behind bars. ‘Our hearts go out to those whose lives have been forever changed by these events,’ said Captain Chris Stockton. It’s a small comfort, but at least this guy won’t be hurting anyone else anytime soon.
