Ballad Health, the country’s largest hospital monopoly, is rebuilding Unicoi County Hospital in Tennessee on land that’s practically begging to be flooded. Two climate modeling companies say it’s a flood risk, but hey, who needs dry land, right?

No Lessons Learned

It’s not like they didn’t know this was coming. Hurricane Helene already flooded the original hospital, and now they’re putting the new one in a similar spot. You can’t make this stuff up. It’s like they’re trying to create a real-life game of Jenga, except with peoples’ lives.

Ballad Health says they’re moving forward with the plan, because what could possibly go wrong? It’s not like the hospital will be filled with patients who can’t exactly evacuate quickly. Oh wait, that’s exactly what will happen.
