Austrian Duo Takes Gold

Raedler and Huber of Austria won’t be leaving the Milan Cortina Games empty-handed – they just took gold in the team combined ski race. What’s more shocking, though, is Mikaela Shiffrin’s fourth-place finish. She had a solid lead going into the first run, courtesy of teammate Breezy Johnson, but it all fell apart after that.

What Went Wrong for Shiffrin?

It’s not every day you see Shiffrin off her game, but that’s exactly what happened. She won’t be thrilled about wasting that first-run lead, and it’s hard to blame her. The Austrian duo, on the other hand, is probably thrilled to have snatched the gold. Don’t expect Shiffrin to dwell on this loss, though – she’ll be back, and she won’t be happy about it.
