Arizona Man Detained in Nancy Guthrie Abduction Probe Insists He’s Innocent
CrimeNancy Guthrie Abduction Probe Takes Bizarre Turn
Luke Daley, 36, was detained for hours in a SWAT operation, but he’s adamant he had nothing to do with Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. He’s not the only one – his acquaintance Kayla Day, 32, is also facing online scrutiny despite no charges being filed against either of them.
What We Know So Far
Daley was arrested in May 2025 for allegedly selling drugs and possessing a gun. He’s currently out of custody and awaiting trial. Day was also arrested in May 2025 on drug-related charges and was already in jail when the SWAT operation went down.
A search of the vehicle found heroin paraphernalia, a 9 mm pistol, and about a thousand opioid pills. But despite the incriminating evidence, neither Daley nor Day has been accused of playing a role in Guthrie’s suspected abduction.
SWAT Operation Raises More Questions Than Answers
The Feb. 13 operation saw dozens of law enforcement vehicles descend on a home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood. A Range Rover was towed, but it’s unclear if it belonged to Daley. His mother was also detained and released without charges.
Daley’s lawyer, Chris Scileppi, insists his client has no link to the Guthrie case. ‘Like the entire Tucson community, both Mr. Daley and his mother are hopeful that Nancy will be returned to her family unharmed,’ Scileppi said.
Investigation Continues
Authorities are still searching for a masked suspect who was seen carrying a black Ozark Trail brand backpack and what appears to be a holstered pistol. DNA recovered from a glove in the area didn’t match anyone in the FBI’s database.
