Congress Hits the Skies

Lawmakers have left town, abandoning negotiations over funding for the Department of Homeland Security. It’s a brazen move, considering the agency is now shut down due to the deadlock. Democratic and White House negotiators are left to pick up the pieces and try to work out a deal in their absence.

A Deal in the Works?

Don’t hold your breath. With Congress MIA, it’s unclear how a deal will get done. The White House and Democrats will have to work some magic to resolve the funding issue. It’s a ridiculous situation, and it’s not like Congress has a reputation for being efficient or effective.
