Cop Shooter Killed in NH Gunfight
CrimeSuspect Down
A massive manhunt in New Hampshire ended in a deadly shootout between cops and 38-year-old Matthew J. Masse, who allegedly shot a police officer and his own family members. It’s a miracle no one else was killed.
The Chaos Unfolds
The incident started around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday when Masse opened fire on his relatives with a long gun. He then shot at responding police, hospitalizing one officer with non-life-threatening injuries. Masse had active felony warrants out for his arrest, including attempted arson at his family’s home.
After the shooting, Masse fled into a wooded area, prompting a large-scale search with K-9 units and multiple agencies involved. It wasn’t until around 10:06 p.m. that police found Masse and an exchange of gunfire broke out, resulting in his death.
No Further Threat
Authorities recovered Masse’s long gun at the scene, and no other officers or civilians were injured. It’s a relief the situation was contained without further bloodshed. The names of the officers involved are being withheld pending formal interviews.
