Botched Arrest

An alleged child rapist from El Salvador was finally caught last week, a month after anti-ICE activists blew an operation to capture him in Boston. It’s a mess that’s got everyone asking: what’s wrong with these people?

The Suspect

Walter Roberto Vides-Ortez, the suspect, was wanted for child rape in his native El Salvador. He’d been living in Boston, near a school, because that’s exactly where you want a guy like that – near kids, right? He entered the US illegally in 2016, presumably to avoid prosecution.

The Activists

On February 12, ICE agents showed up at Vides-Ortez’s home in East Boston. But before they could make a move, a bunch of anti-ICE activists appeared out of nowhere, shouting obscenities and blowing whistles. They claimed the agents were traumatizing kids at a nearby school. It’s ridiculous. The agents were just trying to do their job.

One agitator even called the agents ‘criminals.’ It’s rich, coming from people who are helping a suspected child rapist evade arrest. The operation was blown, and Vides-Ortez was able to stay on the streets for weeks, posing a threat to public safety.

The Arrest

Vides-Ortez was eventually caught on March 12. An ICE agent told Fox News that he was living near a school and was a public safety risk. It’s a miracle nothing worse happened. The whole ordeal is a perfect example of how sanctuary city policies can go horribly wrong.
