Judge Rules in Favor of Lawmaker

A judge just ordered the Kennedy Center to give Representative Joyce Beatty access to planning documents and a seat at the table for their board meeting next week. It’s about time, considering she’s a Democrat who’s been pushing for transparency.

The Ruling

The judge’s decision is a clear win for Beatty, who won’t be shut out of discussions about changes to the center. She’ll get to see the planning documents and have a chance to oppose any proposals she doesn’t like. It’s not like the Kennedy Center has a reputation for being secretive or anything, but it’s good to know someone’s watching.

Beatty’s been fighting for this for a while now, and it’s ridiculous it took a judge to make it happen. But hey, at least it’s happening. The board meeting is next week, so we’ll see what she has to say then.
