Librarian’s Wild Plot to Take Out Trump
CrimeLibrarian Charged with Terroristic Threat
A West Virginia librarian’s social media posts have landed her in hot water – and behind bars. Morgan L. Morrow, a librarian at the Jackson County Public Library, was charged with making a terroristic threat after she allegedly posted videos recruiting people to assassinate President Donald Trump.
A Troubling Trend
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department announced the charges on Sunday, saying Morrow used social media to recruit assassins. It’s a pretty brazen move, and it’s not like she was being subtle about it. One of her posts was captioned: ‘Surely a sniper with a terminal illness cannot be a big ask out of 343 million.’ Yeah, because that’s exactly the kind of thing you want to see from someone who’s supposed to be promoting literacy and a love of learning.
But here’s the thing: Morrow’s posts didn’t stop at Trump. Others in the comments were calling for the assassinations of White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller, tech CEO Larry Ellison, and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Peter Thiel. It’s like they were trying to start some kind of hit list.
Library Distances Itself
The Jackson County Public Library was quick to distance itself from Morrow’s actions, posting a statement on Facebook that said her comments ‘do not reflect the mission, values, or standards of conduct of our organization.’ They also said they’re addressing the matter internally, which is code for ‘we’re trying to figure out how to deal with this crazy person who works for us.’
