Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr. is throwing a bash to celebrate 10 years of 219 Day, and everyone’s invited. The party’s on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Hammond Civic Center, with free admission and a bunch of fun stuff to do, including live music from Boy Band Review, classic backyard games, and a lounge area.
A Swift Tribute
If you’re a Taylor Swift fan, you won’t want to miss Tiffany Lidster’s Red Revolution: The Taylor Swift Experience at Theatre at the Center in Munster. Lidster and her five-piece band will play all of Swift’s hits, with costume changes and everything. Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for kids, and you can even add a themed buffet and activities experience for $25.

And if you’re looking for something to eat, Northwest Indiana’s got you covered. The 2026 Savor the South Shore Restaurant Weeks kicks off on Feb. 23, with over 30 local restaurants offering specially priced three-course meals or exclusive menu deals. Just check in at participating restaurants using the South Shore Passport App for a chance to win a $250 gift card prize package.
What’s ‘Rotten’
Finally, if you’re in the mood for some silly musical medieval fun, check out ‘Something Rotten!’ at Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso. The show’s a hilarious take on the question of how William Shakespeare came up with all his famous plays, and it’s packed with bright music and clever lyrics. Tickets are $27 to $60, and it’s on from Feb. 27 to March 15.
