Oregon’s Shameful History

It’s no secret that Oregon has a problem with racism. The state’s history is marred by laws that explicitly excluded Black people from living there. Yes, you read that right – excluded. It’s a stark reminder that Oregon’s reputation as a progressive haven is nothing more than a myth.

Wealth Gap Widens

Today, the effects of this racist history are still evident. The wealth gap between Black and white Oregonians is staggering. Black people are more likely to live in poverty, lack access to quality education and healthcare, and face discrimination in the workplace. It’s a vicious cycle that’s hard to break, and it won’t fix itself.

Don’t expect Oregon’s lawmakers to take action anytime soon. They’re too busy patting themselves on the back for being ‘progressive’ to actually do anything about the problem. It’s a ridiculous situation, and it’s time someone called them out on it.
