Rhode Island Hockey Rink Shooting: Suspect’s Dark Online Rants Revealed
CrimeShooting Suspect’s Online Outbursts
A day before opening fire at a Rhode Island ice rink, killing two and injuring three, Robert Dorgan posted on X about going ‘BERSERK’ after an online spat. It started when actor Kevin Sorbo wrote that Rep. Sarah McBride, a trans woman, is a man. Dorgan, 56, who identifies as a trans woman, responded with a menacing message: ‘Keep bashing us. But do not wonder why we Go BERSERK.’
A History of Conflict
This wasn’t Dorgan’s first brush with controversy. Court records show a history of family disputes, including a 2020 incident where Dorgan’s father-in-law allegedly used a derogatory term for trans individuals and threatened retaliation over Dorgan’s gender transition. The case was later dismissed. Dorgan’s wife also cited ‘gender reassignment surgery, narcissistic + personality disorder traits’ in divorce paperwork before amending it to ‘irreconcilable differences.’
The Deadly Shooting
On Monday, Dorgan allegedly opened fire during a high school hockey game, leaving two dead and three critically injured. The victims included his wife and three of his children. Dorgan died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Rep. McBride responded to the shooting, calling it a ‘horrific and evil crime’ and saying her ‘prayers are with the victims and their loved ones mourning right now.’
As investigators piece together the events leading up to the shooting, one thing is clear: Dorgan’s online outbursts were a chilling precursor to the tragedy that unfolded.
