Detroit just witnessed its most epic battle yet – and it didn’t involve football. A local impresario brought the concept of fighting robots to life, staging an event that’s been a cultural fantasy since Richard Matheson’s 1956 story ‘Steel’. It’s about time someone made this crazy idea a reality.

The Main Event

Robowar, as it’s called, features giant robots going head-to-head in front of a live audience. Because who doesn’t want to watch massive machines smash into each other? It’s ridiculous, but in a weird way, it’s also kind of brilliant.
