St. Charles North’s Bronwyn How Vows to Keep Fighting
SportsSeason Ends, But How’s Determination Doesn’t
St. Charles North’s season came to a close Tuesday night, but junior forward Bronwyn How’s resolve is still going strong. After a tough 67-60 loss to Glenbard West, How was already thinking about next year.
She had a killer game, with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocked shots, but it wasn’t enough to take down the Hilltoppers. Lelanie Posada and Riley Barber each scored 14 points for the North Stars, while Sophia Evans led Glenbard West with 25 points off the bench.
A Bittersweet Ending
For How, the loss was tough to swallow, especially since it meant saying goodbye to her senior teammates. She’s been playing with them for three years, and it’s clear she’s going to miss them. “This group especially meant a lot,” she said. “I’ve been with these seniors for three years now. Some of them I’ve known a bit longer, too.”
But even in defeat, How’s coach Grant Oler sees a lot to be proud of. “Yes, in 24 or 48 hours, she’ll look back and have those thoughts,” he said. “Right now, she loves these girls. She’s brokenhearted for her seniors. Her and Lelanie are going to be a thing. They saw how this senior class does it. They take that and build on that, that’s the hope.”
And build on it they will. How’s already thinking about the offseason, and how she can use this experience to fuel her training. “Especially preparing for travel coming up,” she said. “I think using this entire season, not just this game, as motivation. There’s always something you can learn and something you can do better.”
