This Is How To And When To Use Neutral Gear In An Automatic Car
Automatic transmission is more straightforward than a manual gearbox, and while some cars might feature other settings, they all have the same basic four modes.
While the purpose of the Drive, Reverse, and Park modes is obvious, some drivers might not know how and when to shift to Neutral when driving an automatic car.
In automatic cars, Neutral disengages the transmission from the engine, unlocks the wheels, and serves as the intermediary between Reverse and Drive when shifting gears.
Since automatics should be completely stopped before shifting into other gears, Neutral disengages the gears and prevents gearbox damage when shifting abruptly.
Shifting into Neutral is recommended when the vehicle is stuck, or the gas and brake pedals are not working. Going into Neutral can also make pushing or towing your car easier.
