It’s Not a Joke

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen says President Trump is dead serious about buying Greenland. Yes, you read that right – buying a whole country. Frederiksen dropped this bombshell at the Munich Security Conference, saying Trump’s desire to acquire the icy island hasn’t changed. It’s still unclear what Trump plans to do with Greenland, but it’s clear he won’t take no for an answer.

A Bad Idea That Won’t Die

Trump’s been pushing this ridiculous idea since December, and it’s not going away. The US president seems to think he can just swoop in and buy a sovereign nation like it’s a timeshare. It’s a notion that’s been met with resistance from, well, pretty much everyone – including the Danes and the Greenlanders themselves. It’s a bad idea that’s been widely panned, but Trump won’t let it go.
