Pentagon Releases Name of Fifth Casualty

Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, a 45-year-old from Indianola, Iowa, is the latest US service member to be killed in action. He died on Sunday at Shuaiba Port in Kuwait after an Iranian drone struck a tactical operations center.

The Defense Department says O’Brien’s death occurred during an unmanned aircraft system attack. It’s the fifth US fatality resulting from the incident. The Pentagon won’t comment on the circumstances surrounding the attack, but it’s clear that it’s a serious escalation of tensions in the region.
