Three Vietnam War veterans are suing the Trump administration to stop it from building a proposed triumphal arch in Washington’s Memorial Circle. They’re saying it’s a no-go without congressional approval.

The Beef with the Arch

The vets, along with an architectural historian, don’t think the White House should get away with constructing the ‘Independence Arch’ without proper clearance. It’s not like they’re asking for the moon here – just some good old-fashioned bureaucratic process.
The White House can’t just slap up a giant arch because it feels like it. There are rules, and it’s about time someone reminded them of that.
